RETURN TO THE STAGE

Plans for the CSO’s 2020-2021 Season

The CSO has worked diligently to deliver a season that will celebrate the 250th birthday of Beethoven and commemorate the works of women in classical music. Despite the challenges caused by COVID-19, we are excited to share that no concerts have been cancelled! In fact, based on our subscriber survey feedback, the CSO will return to the stage this fall to offer safe in-person experiences starting in October. As a subscriber, you will also have the opportunity to access all performances through our new Charleston Symphony Virtual Concert Hall at no extra cost. Updated program information and new safety protocols can be found below:

The Charleston Symphony is excited to announce our new Virtual Concert Hall, which will be launched for the start of our season. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

Will there be any in-person performances this fall?

  • Yes! Based on an overwhelming response to our recent subscriber survey, we are excited to provide our valued patrons with the opportunity to return safely to in-person concerts starting in October.

If I’m not comfortable attending live performances, why should I keep my subscription for the 2020-2021 season?

  • Not only will you help the Charleston Symphony navigate successfully through this global health crisis, but you will also receive added exclusive subscriber benefits (complimentary chamber music concerts, virtual activities, priority seating during the 2021-2022 season, and more). We hope you will stand by us during these difficult times – your support will help to ensure the CSO remains a financially viable community asset for seasons to come.

Will you continue to offer live streamed performances throughout the entire season?

  • Yes! All concerts will be available through the Charleston Symphony Virtual Concert Hall for your enjoyment.

How are you planning to keep people safe when returning to in-person concerts?

  • Your health and safety is our main priority. The CSO will continue working closely with our partner venues to follow guidelines established by government officials and the CDC. Please refer to the “For your safety” section above for a list of new protective measures that will be implemented during each performance.
  • If patrons are not feeling well prior to a concert, the CSO will discourage attendance and offer alternative options.

What are my options as a subscriber for the 2020-2021 season?

  • You can attend concerts in-person! We will do everything possible to keep you as close to your original seats as possible and appreciate your flexibility and understanding during these unprecedented times! More information will be available soon.
  • You can watch the performance through the Charleston Symphony Virtual Concert Hall.
  • We are happy to accept your ticket(s) as a donation if you are uncomfortable in the audience or online.

I don’t use social media. How can I watch the concerts online?

  • Once the CSO launches our new Virtual Concert Hall, we will provide step-by-step instructions and streaming support resources for you to enjoy this season’s performances from the comfort of your home. There will be several options to stream concerts on your TV, smartphone, tablet, or computer.
